Install Manager
Tacoma, WA

INSTALL MANAGER - Tacoma, WA

Our Tacoma facility is in need of an experienced Installation Manager.  The Installation Manager is to handle all aspects of the installation process associated with a store. This includes scheduling, handling complaints and claims and otherwise being responsible for dealing with both employed and contract installers. In addition, this individual is responsible for communicating with customers regarding the installation process.

Essential Functions

The Installation Manager has the following specific responsibilities:

  • Maintain a schedule for installation jobs.
  • Ensure that all members of the installation staff comply with store and company policy, specifically as it relates to the dress code and professional appearance.
  • Establish a list of qualified sub-contractors who can be retained to perform installation jobs.
  • Ensure that all sub-contractors submit all required paperwork necessary to perform work contracted for by Great Floors.
  • Meet regularly with sub-contract installers to review procedures which must be followed in order to perform work for Great Floors.
  • Review customer claims and complaints and supervise their resolution with installers and/or manufacturers.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings with other store department heads for the purpose of monitoring and improving store performance.
  • Promote customer relations by ensuring that entire installation staff interacts professionally with customers.
  • Ensure that safety procedures and practices are followed by all members of the installation staff.

Standards of Performance

The Installation Manger will be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following criteria have been met or exceeded:

  • Installations are accurately scheduled and customers communicated with in a professional manner regarding the schedule.
  • Staff members are supervised in such a manner that they perform quickly and efficiently with a minimum of slack time and/or overtime.
  • Interaction with support staff and salespeople is such that the entire store operates at a high level of efficiency.
  • Customer complaints are handled in a professional manner.
  • A list of qualified installation subcontractors is maintained and installers properly assigned to jobs within their area of competence.
  • Installation staff members receive regular performance reviews.
  • All required support has been offered so as to improve on a consistent and regular basis the satisfaction of customers with the installation process.

Competencies

  • Capable of using analytical and observational skills to oversee and direct the installation functions of a retail floor covering store.
  • Basic computer skills needed to review orders and verify inventory
  • Can effectively communicate with, direct, coordinate and control the activities of personnel related to the installation process.
  • Able to interface with installers and all other store personnel.
  • Well-developed knowledge of floor covering products and all aspects of installing a variety of floor covering products.
  • Ability to communicate with customers both by phone and in person.
  • Good organizational and scheduling skills.

Supervisory Responsibility


The Installation Manager is given necessary authority to manage and administer the following basic functions of this position:

  • With the approval of the Store Manager; hire, fire, evaluate and discipline all personnel reporting to the department.
  • In conjunction with the Store Manager establish goals and procedures for the installation staff.
  • Take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position, so long as it is consistent with established company policy and sound business judgment.

Our Bellevue facility is looking for an addition to our Warehouse Staff. The basic function of the Warehouse Staff is to perform all aspects of the warehouse operation at the direction of the Warehouse Manager. Flooring Installer– Tri-Cities Area

Great Floors is a reputable flooring company that is seeking journeyman installers. The position is based in the Tri-Cities area with some day travel to Oregon. The priority products include tile, laminate, vinyl and carpet. This position performs manual work at the journeyman level in floor covering installation, maintenance, and repair.

Essential Functions

* Estimates, measures, and cuts carpets and other soft or roll floor materials, and foundation material, according to blueprints and sketches for new installation, repairs, or replacements of floor coverings.

* Estimates, measures, and prepares floor surfaces for installation or repair of hard surface floor coverings, both tiles and roll vinyl sheet materials.

* Disconnects and removes obstacles such as appliances and light fixtures.

* Sweeps, scrapes, sands, or chips dirt irregularities from base surfaces, and fills cracks with putty, plaster, or cement grout to form smooth, clean foundation.

* Spreads adhesive cement over floor to cement foundation material to floor for sound deadening, and to prevent covering from wearing at board joints.

* Lays out center lines, guidelines, and borderlines on foundation with chalk line and dividers.

* Lays covering on cement, following guidelines, to keep tile courses straight and butts’ edges of blocks to match patterns and execute designs.

* Joins sections of sheet covering by overlapping adjoining edges and cutting through both layers with knife to form tight joint.

* Rolls finished floor to smooth it and press cement into base and covering.

* Finishes and refinishes various types of wood floors with sanders and cleaning equipment; applies sealers, vanishes, and floor waxes as required.

* Performs other work as required in support of general maintenance activity.
